Anand Singh attacked me first, I only retaliated, says JN Ganesh
Bengaluru: Kampli MLA J.N. Ganesh, who is absconding to evade arrest after he was booked for assaulting his party colleague Hosapete MLA Anand Singh, took to Facebook to plead his innocence and said that it was Mr Singh who abused him first and started the fight.
The suspended Congress lawmaker Ganesh claimed in the FB post that the brawl between him and Mr Singh on Sunday at Eagleton Resort was a result of a provocation by Mr Singh.
Mr Ganesh has addressed the post to his voters, claiming, “Singh abused my community and kicked me in my chest... He went on to abuse me and asked me to lead him to Naik’s room. I was forced to take him there, where he demanded an apology from Naik for abusing him at the CLP meeting and tried to assault Naik. When I interfered, he twisted my thumb and hit me on my back with a bed lamp. I had no other choice but to react. Party seniors know this. Mr Singh has conspired all this with his nephew Sandeep to malign my reputation.”
The incident happened between 11 pm on Saturday and 2.30 am on Sunday, he wrote. “Mr Singh took me to his room and accused me of supporting E. Tukaram for a ministerial berth and began to abuse me, and also kicked me. Then I left for my room. Singh followed me and took me to the Hagari Bommanahalli MLA Bheema Naik and began beating me again. He also twisted my fingers, which led to a fracture. Then I retaliated,” he wrote.
Mr Singh was admitted to a hospital where he is set to undergo an eye surgery.
Cops have booked a case under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (intentional insult to breach peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. Congress suspended Mr Ganesh.
