Telangana: Districts to continue, says Kadiyam Srihari

He said that there is no truth in the rumours that some of the districts will be cancelled.

WARANGAL: The 31 districts currently in Telangana state would continue to be in it and will not be annulled as per some rumours, declared Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari. He was addressing the media here on his completion of three years as the Deputy CM of Telangana.

He said that there is no truth in the rumours that some of the districts will be cancelled. “Once created, the districts will remain so. There might be some small changes in case some people of a certain mandal or village are not comfortable with their present location. Apart from this, there will not be any major change in the current plan. The government would be opposed by the people if we go back from this decision,” he said.

Speaking about the district headquarter issue in Warangal rural district, the Deputy CM said that the public representatives in the district are unable to come to a conclusion regarding where the headquarters should be set up.

Mr Kadiam said that he has had a satisfactory stint as the Deputy CM and is proud that he was able to bring considerable development to Warangal. “I pursued the issue of Outer Ring Road for Warangal and the parallel Rail-Over-Bridge at Kazipet with CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao and got them sanctioned. Similarly, I have strived to strengthen the irrigation facilities to Warangal. The SRSP canals are being modernised. The phase III of the Devadula lift irrigation scheme would benefit Warangal,” he said.
