Sakhi to aid Khammam women
Khammam: Support for women in Khammam is set to get a big boost with Sakhi, a Central government programme to support women affected by any kind of violence through many services, set to get a firm footing here.
A Sakhi building which will be the first of its kind will come up in Khammam. Sakhi also is one of its kind programme aimed to extend assistance to women. Any woman in trouble can knock the doors of Sakhi and get different services. Sakhi, authorities claim, is a friend, mother and advisor to every woman.
The women will get help like police assistance, medical aid, legal support, psych-social counselling and shelter homes under one roof.
Other initiatives include panic button, a new application which is hardwired into mobile phone to send alerts to police and local community in distress situations. The cost of the building is Rs 48 lakh. Minister for roads and buildings T. Nageswara Rao laid the foundation stone in the premises of district headquarters hospital.
The government is also giving priority in maintaining the child sex ratio and Beti bachao and beti padao. It is trying to fix loopholes welfare schemes.
