Kothagudem: Laying rangavalli, forming human chains, taking out rallies, taking pledges, playing kolatam and displaying  the National Flag were witnessed on the occasion of National Voters’ Day on Thursday.

In Kothagudem, collector Rajiv Hanumanthu said that there ‘votes’ and ‘development’ are linked. “The growth of our country will be on the right path, if people participate in voting,” he said, adding that there is an urgent need to discuss the importance of voting among the youth. He said that no one should take their right to vote lightly.

‘Vibrants of Kalam’ organised a 104-metre-long National Flag programme in Madhira and the youth took a pledge on exercising their franchise. Girls took out a rally by holding placards on the occasion.

BJP state secretary K. Sridhar Reddy said that the youth and students are the wealth of our country and they must vote  in every election, without fail.

In Khammam, district judge, M. Laxman said, “People should participate in the voting out of their own convictions and not be  influenced by any persuasion or  attractions. Every person should not only check their vote, but use it!”

He stated that there were some sections of people who showed voting “negligence” and this was not proper.

Different competitions were organised in Khammam on the occasion and prizes were distributed to the winners by collector Lokesh Kumar. Rangavalli was laid in Enkoor and a human chain was formed at Kamepalli.
