Train mishap averted in Maharashtra; Central Railways suspects sabotage

The Madgaon-bound Janshatabdi Express was carrying 700 passengers, at the time of the detection of the disrupted railway track.

Diva: A major train accident was averted in Maharashtra early on Thursday.

Timely action by the train driver near the Diva Railway station near Mumbai prevented the Jan Shatabdi Express Train going over a railway track that was in a state of disrepair.

Central railway authorities suspect that it is a case of sabotage. General Manager D.K Sharma confirmed such a possibility and said a probe has been ordered.

The Madgaon-bound Janshatabdi Express was carrying 700 passengers, at the time of the detection of the disrupted railway track.

Loco pilots applied emergency brakes in the nick of time. The stoppage caused a 15-minute delay.
