Hyderabad: Short circuit in Owaisi Hospital
Hyderabad: A short circuit in a doctor’s cabin on the second floor of Owaisi Hospital adjacent to the paediatric intensive care unit led to major chaos as women ran with their children to the ground floor. The fire occurred at 9.30 am. According to patients’ attendants, the cabin was damaged due to the fire. The fire brigade said it did not get any call.
A patient’s attendant Aman Riyaz (name changed) said, “The PICU had 15 infants, all of them below 12 months. The mothers panicked at the sound, and on seeing the smoke ran down with their children. The nursing staff and postgraduate doctors helped them evacuate. Some women and paramedical staff were hurt in the melee.” The infants were shifted to another intensive care unit on the first floor. The attendants were later told by hospital officials that the situation was under control.
