Hebbalkar's benami deals did her in: BS Yeddyurappa
Bengaluru: State BJP president B.S.Yeddyurappa has alleged that Congress women wing president Laxmi Hebbalkar has amused illegal wealth through benami transactions made in the name of a solar power plant.
Addressing mediapersons here on Wednesday, Mr Yeddyurappa claimed that Ms Hebbalkar whose residence was raided by the Income Tax wing, had a solar power plant at Belagavi in which she had invested huge amounts of money in benami names. He also demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramiah should drop SSI minister Ramesh Jarkiholi from the Cabinet after undisclosed assets worth several crores were found during the recent I-Tax raid.
With the Congress staging huge protests under the leadership of AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi against demonetisation, it is now proved that Congress leaders are trying to save their leaders who have stashed away black money, Mr. Yeddyurappa criticized. “ The recent, shameful expose of the corrupt practices of several high ranking government officials, who had the support of senior ministers in the government, is proof enough of their corruption”, Mr Yeddyurappa added.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said in Mysuru that he would examine the Income Tax departments reports and decide on the action to be taken against SSI Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi and state Congress Women's cell head Ms Lakshmi Hebbalkar following the I-T raids on their houses.
Answering a query by mediapersons near his residence at Sharadadevinagar in Mysuru, Mr Siddaramaiah said: "IT officials don't submit their reports to the state government. However I will try to get the reports and examine them."
On the Nanjangud Assembly byelection, he said, "We do not have any dearth of candidates. We will announce the candidate once the election date is declared."
