Temperature goes up as northwest winds bid goodbye

The minimum temperature on December 22 which was 15ºC climbed up to 19ºC on Saturday.

Hyderabad: The city is experiencing comparatively warmer temperatures since the last couple of days. The chilly winds from the northwest have paved way for southeasterly winds which are considerably warmer in nature and, coming from the Bay of Bengal, carry moisture.

The minimum temperature on December 22 which was 15ºC climbed up to 19ºC on Saturday. The maximum temperature has increased from about 27ºC to 30ºC. Meteorological officials said the humidity in the southwesterly winds made a significant difference in the temperature.

Mr Mahesh Palawat, weather expert from Skymet, said, “The southwest winds will prevail for two days and cause rainfall in some parts of Telangana around December 27. Some parts of Hyderabad towards south and east might experience light rains on the same day.”

According to experts, the winter chill will be back after the rainfall and temperatures will start dropping with the return of the northeasterly winds. This could make for a chilly New Year.
