Ravi Belagere home, updates Facebook

The cover story of the tabloid is about Sunil Heggaravalli and the reports project Heggaravalli as a womanizer.

BENGALURU: Two weeks after being away from home, journalist and editor of Kannada weekly tabloid ‘Hai Bangalore’ Ravi Belagere, who was arrested on charges of giving supari (contract) to a sharp shooter to kill his colleague Sunil Heggaravalli, returned home on Saturday night.

Belagere, who was undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital, was granted bail by the 65th City Civil & Sessions Court on Thursday. Despite getting bail, Belagere was reportedly not in a condition to go home and the doctors had advised him to undergo treatment for another two days. As his health improved by Saturday, he was discharged in the night.

Soon after the discharge, Belagere updated his Facebook status as ‘Happy bird!’ along with a picture of him sitting in a car. He further posted another message saying, “My excitement has no definite reason. Feel like burning all the night with Facebook friends. I was missing all of you ...”.

Recounts jail experience
Meanwhile, he has shared his experience at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison with his readers in the latest edition of his tabloid.

Terming the prison as ‘a big town’, Belegere has written that if he spends one year there, the prison will be a huge library and encyclopedia for him.

“This is a short punishment for a crime I have not committed. This is just a battle. I am ready for the war!,” Belagere wrote in a column.

The cover story of the tabloid is about Sunil Heggaravalli and the reports project Heggaravalli as a womanizer.

Belagere was arrested on December 8 by the CCB police after Shashidhara Ramachandra Mundewadi, a sharp shooter, had confessed that Belagere had provided him a revolver, four bullets and a knife, asking him kill Heggaravalli, with whom Belagere allegedly had personal enmity.
