Kerala: Software for building permits to roll out soon

New bus terminal to see KSRTC operating long haul buses to destinations like Tvm and Kozhikode.

Kochi: A new software that facilitates applications for building permits to be submitted online, will be soon rolled out at all municipalities and panchayats, Minister for Local Self Government K.T Jaleel said on Sunday. “The Intelligent Building Plan Management System (IBPMS) is being implemented at the Kozhikode Corporation as a pilot project. Upon it being found error- free and successful, we’ll extend it to all municipalities and panchayats across the state,” the minister said while inaugurating the new bus terminal near the Kalamassery Medical College here.

He called on the administrators of the local self-government bodies to avoid red tapism when it came to various services to the public. “There should not be a situation when a person has to visit any panchayat, municipality or Corporation more than twice for getting his genuine requirements fulfilled,” the minister said. Meanwhile, the new bus terminal will see the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation operating long haul buses to destinations such as Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode soon.

“We have given space for setting up a Station Master’s office there. The officials have promised to operate long haul buses and are in the process of preparing schedules. A total of 15 buses can park simultaneously at the terminal. It also has basic amenities for commuters such as separate toilets for men and women,” said Kalamassery Municipal Chairperson Jessy Peter.

The terminal would resolve commuting woes faced by hundreds of people coming to the Cancer institute and Medical College among others, she said. Meanwhile Prof K.V. Thomas MP, who attended the function promised to provide the Kalamassery municipality a trauma-care ambulance for emergency services besides five photo-voltaic high-mast lights.
