Hyderabad: President sojourn will be shortest

President Ram Nath Kovind arrived here on Sunday afternoon for the first southern sojourn of his presidency.

Hyderabad: President Ram Nath Kovind arrived here on Sunday afternoon for the first southern sojourn of his presidency. At four days, it will be the shortest sojourn of the President here.

Mr Kovind was accorded a warm welcome at the Hakimpet Air Force Station by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and a few of his Cabinet colleagues and Mayor Bonthu Rammohan.

From Hakimpet, the President drove to Rashtrapati Nilayam at Bolarum where he will stay till December 27. The President attended a dinner hosted in his honour at Raj Bhavan in the night.

The southern sojourn normally extends to two weeks, and the President usually spends New Year’s day in the city.

Mr Kovind will return to Delhi after attending programmes at Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh on December 27. He will host an ‘At Home’ at Rastrapati Nilayam on December 26.
