Bengaluru: Traffic cops to go filmy, to teach traffic sense

The motorists too have failed to follow traffic rules further adding to the mess on roads.

Bengaluru: The city’s painfully slow traffic has hogged the headlines at the national and international level. The vehicular population is increasing exponentially, and the traffic congestion is getting worse by the day. The motorists too have failed to follow traffic rules further adding to the mess on roads.

To instil better road sense and to improve safety, the city traffic police have asked the people to make short films about traffic awareness and safety, which will be screened at various platforms across the city.

Mr Harishekar, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), told Deccan Chronicle that the motorists should be aware of road safety and traffic rules, which need to be followed at all times. “Once the motorist starts following the traffic rules, there will be little less reduction in traffic congestion and gradually, there will be smooth flow of traffic.”

He said, “Anyone can shoot a short film about traffic awareness and road safety and submit it to us. We will select the best three films and screen them at educational institutions, hospitals, industries, corporate and government offices, main junctions in the city and other important places, where a large number of people gather. This will help people know how important it is to follow traffic rules.”

The duration of the film should be 3 to 8 minutes in English or Kannada. Production houses, graphic design companies, filmmakers and individuals can take part. The last date for enrolment is December 31, 2018 and the film should be submitted before February 28, 2019.

The top three short films will be awarded with suitable cash prizes and will be screened across the city.
