Tamilisai Soundararajan, TNCC president trade barbs on Twitter

The veteran politician made the conversation interesting by tweeting that children always speak the truth.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu BJP chief Tamilisai Soundararajan and her Congress counterpart Su Thirunavukarasar were involved in an interesting political spat on Twitter – exchanging barbs on the Election Commission allotting Two Leaves symbol to EPS-OPS faction of the AIADMK. While Tamilisai termed as “childishness” Thirunavukarasar’s statement that BJP was behind the EC decision, the veteran politician made the conversation interesting by tweeting that children always speak the truth.

It all started on Friday morning when the Congress chief posted link of his interview to a Tamil channel in which he accused the BJP of being behind the EC decision. “The EC ruling has come on expected lines. Everyone has been expecting that the Two Leaves symbol will be allotted only to this camp. That is because the BJP wants an alliance with the AIADMK for local body polls and for other elections in the future,” Thirunavukarasu had alleged in the interview.

In reply to Thirunavukarasar’s tweet, Tamilisai posted on her official page that his comments were “childish” in nature arguing that Election Commission was an independent body and there was no need for the BJP to influence the poll body. “Children always speak the truth.” This was Thirunavukarasar’s cryptic reply to Tamilisai on her tweet targeting him. Later, speaking to a Tamil television channel, Thirunavukarasar repeated his “children speak truth” remark and asked Tamilisai not to “speak like a grandmother.”

Political analysts said Thirunavukarasar’s allegations are not wild since many AIADMK ministers publicly boasted that they have “Narendra Modi with us” and there would be no problem in getting the Two Leaves symbol. Dairy Development Minister K T Rajenthra Balaji had stoked a controversy last month when he said no force in the world can shake the AIADMK since the PM was with them.
