K Chandrasekhar Rao colonies' likely to come up across Telangana

Officials of Housing and Urban Development Corporation had visited the construction sites in Sircilla, Asifabad.

Adilabad/Karimnagar: Hundreds of ‘KCR colonies’ are likely to come up in mandal headquarters and villages as the colonies housing the new 2BHK residences will be named after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The beneficiaries will be selected through a lottery system for the double bedroom houses and once the colonies are ready, they would be naming them after KCR as a mark of respect and gratitude. There were hundreds of Indiramma houses constructed earlier in the villages for the poor during the Congress regime. Now TRS wants to replicate the magic by doing the same.

Officials of Housing and Urban Development Corporation had visited the construction sites in Sircilla, Asifabad. TRS MLA Kova Laxmi had said, “the state government had taken the construction of double bedroom houses (2BHK) as a prestige issue. All the new colonies where 2BHK houses are coming up will be named after KCR and all the facilities will be provided to the residents of those colonies.”

She had even gone to the extent of saying that beneficiaries who carry BJP flags would have their names removed from the beneficiary list. It seems that the TRS leaders are planning to develop the new colonies as KCR colonies so that the party’s contribution will remain as evidence with a physical appearance like the Indiramma houses.

Meanwhile, the construction of the 2BHK houses is going on at snail’s pace in many Assembly Constituencies due to the hurdles coming in the way. The non-availability of suitable land, shortage of material and especially the lackadaisical attitude of the contractors are the main reasons for the poor progress in the scheme. The scheme though, is making good progress in the Assembly constituencies represented by the ministers Jogu Ramanna and Allola Indrakaran Reddy in old Adilabad and K.T. Ramarao in Karimnagar district.

Recently, a team from the Hudco visited the construction site at Mandapalli in Thangallapalli mandal in Sircilla Assembly constituency being represented by Mr Ramarao. As many as 1,260 houses are being constructed in a phased manner at one place. Officials and political leaders have failed to select a suitable place for the 2BHK in Sirpur (T) while construction has not started in Chennur and Mudhole Assembly constituencies.
