Guntur: Heads roll for staffer's suicide

District collector K. Sasidhar ordered that the four accused be suspended and ordered a judicial inquiry.

Guntur: Four employees were suspended in the suicide case of N. Ravikumar, a junior assistant working in the medical and health department.

Ravikumar had made a selfie video before committing suicide in which he had alleged that DMHO office incharge A.O. Ratna Raju, health educator Bhanu Murthy, supervisor Mallikharjuna Rao and senior assistant Prasad had harassed him because of which he was ending his life. District collector K. Sasidhar ordered that the four accused be suspended and ordered a judicial inquiry.

Ravikumar had uploaded a video on his Facebook wall which went viral after his death. Ravikumar was admitted into GGH at Guntur and shifted to NRI GeneralHospital where he died while undergoing treatment on November 22.

His body was shifted to GGH on November 23 for autopsy where his family and Dalit organizations staged a protest demanding the suspension of four officials. Police has also started investigations into the allegations made by Ravikumar.

DMHO Dr J. Yasmin said suspension orders were issued against four officials on the orders of district collector. She said Ratnaraju, Bhanu Murthy, Mallikharjuna Rao and Prasad were absconding and the suspension orders were served at their houses on Friday.
