Bengaluru: High Court stays its order on Kodagu DC

The Kodagu DC appeared before the court and apologised for his errors, citing discrepancies.

BENGALURU: The High Court on Friday stayed its order directing Registrar Vigilance or local judicial officer to register an FIR against Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Dr Richard Vincent D'souza over passing two different orders in a single day relating to a property dispute.

A day after the High Court passed the directions, the Kodagu DC approached the court pleading to recall its order. The DC who appeared before the court admitted the mistake for passing such orders citing that there were some discrepancies and hence he passed such order. However, the court took Kodagu DC to task before staying its order directing to register FIR against him.

One B.R. Mohammed Shoaib, a resident of Virajpet, had approached the court, seeking to quash the order of the DC with regard to a property dispute. It is alleged that the Kodagu DC had issued two different orders in a property dispute matter involving conflicting parties - B R Mohammed Shoaib and R Khalil Ahmed on the same day.

The HC also directed the chief secretary to initiate departmental proceedings with regard to the alleged orders passed by the DC. The matter has been adjourned to December 14.
