Illegal eateries troubling lawmakers? KJ George promises to remove them

Mr Ugrappa also complained about a liveband functioning in one of the hotels in his area and causing nuisance on weekends.

Belagavi: Following complaints by legislators over the menace of unauthorised street vendors in HSR Layout in Bengaluru, City Development Minister K.J. George said that he will issue directions to the BBMP commissioner to remove illegal eating joints and also promised to personally inspect the place to take stock of the situation.

Ms Vimala Gowda of the Bharatiya Janata Party complained in the Council that the eating joints from Sector 1 to 7 in HSR Layout on footpaths were causing hardship to residents.

“Let alone travelling in my official car, I am unable to walk on the street due to hapazard parking of vehicles on footpaths. This has made me feel that BBMP officials are responsible for allowing these eating joints to operate on footpaths,” she said. Mr V.S. Ugrappa of Congress too complained about street vendors in his area and wanted the authorities concerned to stop them.

Mr Ugrappa also complained about a liveband functioning in one of the hotels in his area and causing nuisance on weekends. Mr George said that it was not possible to evict all street vendors as the Supreme Court has clearly stated that they should not evicted till a hawking zone is identified for them.
