Hyderabad traffic cops fail to issue alert regarding possible traffic jams

Due to the moment of the Governor and Chief Minister's convoys, there were jams, but that is part of the protocol.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad traffic police failed to issue an alert regarding possible traffic jams in connection with the Chief Minister’s housewarming ceremony on Thursday morning. Commuters were thus caught unaware, leading to traffic snarls.

Heavy traffic was witnessed from Haritha Plaza up to Somajiguda. The department did issue an advisory for Punjagutta to Jubilee Hills in view of many weddings on Thursday, in the morning on its Facebook page.

Mr Mohd Imran, resident of Umanagar colony, Begumpet, said, “Traffic was stopped for more than 10 minutes before the CM’s camp office gate (built on the divider), I had no clue about the reason.”

At around 10.30 am on Thursday, traffic was stuck on Begumpet flyover up to Haritha Plaza to make way for the Governor’s convoy. Hyderabad, North, deputy commissioner of police, traffic, L.S. Chauhan said, “It wasn’t necessary to issue a traffic advisory because there were few invitees.

The list included the Governor, the Chief Minister's family and a handful of party members. Parking space was allocated at the Manjeera guesthouse and traffic was being monitored on a regular basis. Due to the moment of the Governor and Chief Minister’s convoys, there were jams, but that is part of the protocol.

Traffic congestion might have been reported before the CM camp office gate as every vehicle had to go through checks before being allowed inside.
