Two groups clash during Sadar festival

HYDERABAD: Mild tension prevailed at Narsingi following a clash between supporters of TRS leader Venkatesh Yadav and Congress leader Ashok Yadav during Sadar festival celebrations allegedly due to previous rivalry.

Trouble began on Monday night when Venkatesh Yadav, who has been organising the Sadar festival celebrations for well over a decade, led his supporters in a procession through Narsingi. During the procession, Venkatesh Yadav's supporters and Ashok Yadav's followers were engaged in a fight and reportedly threw stones at one another.

Police said taht at around 1.30 am on Tuesday, stones were pelted on Ashok Yadav’s residence, following which he filed a complaint stating that Venkatesh Yadav was behind this.

Venkatesh Yadav also lodged a complaint stating that stones were pelted on his residence and his family members were attacked.

Police had to resort to mild lathicharge after repeated attempts to disperse the mobs failed. Cases were booked against both parties involved in the clashes and patrolling was intensified in the village to avoid further escalation of violence.
