Will push for social agenda if alliance wins: M Kodandaram

The party was inspired by the Kumuram Bheem fight for self-rule and rights on jal, jangal and jameen, said Prof Kodandaram.

Adilabad: Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) president Prof M. Kodandaram said that his party will be in the grand alliance and will push for the implementation of a democratic and social agenda in the next government if the grand alliance comes to power, and see to it that undemocratic rule is ended in Telangana.

Prof Kodandaram was speaking in Adilabad where he had gone to pay tributes to Komaram Bheem on his 78th death anniversary at Jodeghat on Wednesday.

He said that with the implementation of his agenda the party will be close to the people and send a strong and clear message to the people about their vision.

Prof Kodandaram told this newspaper that change in the government is not important; the change should be in governance, and the alliance will try to bring about that change for better administration.

He said the parties “will sort out differences on seat sharing in the grand alliance.” What is important, he said, was being in the alliance in order to push the social and democratic agenda. His party will involve the public in administration to bring governance close to the people and decisions will be taken based on public opinion.

“It would be good if five or six of our MLAs are in the state Assembly. It would be easy for them to ensure effective implementation of their agenda in the larger interest,” he said.

“The TJS will take measures to correct the land rights of the poor, especially agriculture lands, by regularising them following the irregularities in land purchases and many losing their hard-earned money on land purchases,” Prof Kodandaram said.

The focus will be on agriculture and the industrial sector, to generate employment in the private sector too, and impart skill development to educated youth to get them into various jobs. He said livelihood opportunities must be increased in Telangana.

“Reviving democracy and fulfilling the aspirations of the separate Telangana agitation and Telangana martyrs," was his goal, he affirmed.

“Basic civic amenities, including health and education, would be provided free through government institutions and we will make serious efforts to reduce the influence of corporate institutions in both the sectors to reduce the financial burden on the poor and middle class,” Prof Kodandaram declared.

“TJS will protect the rights of Adivasis. The party was inspired by the Kumuram Bheem fight for self-rule and rights on jal, jangal and jameen,” said Prof Kodandaram.
