Bengaluru: Following allegations of actress Sanjjanaa Galrani that Ravi Shrivatsa, director of Ganda Hendathi, made her enact uncomfortable scenes in the movie 12 years ago, the Directors’ Association hit back saying that it supported #MeToo movement, but her charges have nothing to do with the movement, and it is Sanjjanaa and a few other actresses who have misused the movement.
Ravi held a press conference on Wednesday, levelling a series of counter allegations against the actress and questioning her decision to malign him a decade after the release of the movie. He said that Sanjjanaa was clearly happy with her work and fame she attained afer the movie back then.
He denied forcing or threatening her during the making of the film.
He questioned the actress on various issues, including her age, number of films she did prior to Ganda Hendathi, her personal wealth and the kind of work she has done. He showed a few video clips of the actress' recent films, saying she has acted in bolder scenes that she did in Ganda Hendathi.
The actress hit back, saying that Ravi has become frustrated and added that it was Ganda Hendathi drew her close to suicide.
Ravi said that he is more mature now and his answer would have been different if she had made similar accusations ten years ago.
Even as the war of words continued, the directors association has set a deadline to Sanjjanaa till Friday to apologise to the director.
