Kochi: Threat to spill blood in Sabarimala temple

Mr Eashwar told reporters here on Wednesday that this was their plan-B to prevent the entry of young women there.

Kochi: Rahul Eashwar, president of Ayyappa Dharma Sena, has threatened that he and his 20 associates were ready to desecrate the Sabarimala temple premises by spilling blood with self-inflicted injuries if young women entered the hill shrine.

Mr Eashwar told reporters here on Wednesday that this was their plan-B to prevent the entry of young women there.

“We were ready to cut our hands and spill blood. In the event of blood and urine spilling on the premises of Sannidhanam, it would become impure and the temple could be closed for three days without anybody’s permission. In such a situation, nobody would say that the temple should be opened. It could be reopened only after the necessary purification rituals,” he said.

He also claimed that the group of 20 will position themselves with their bloodletting strategy in the coming pilgrim season at Sannidhanam. The faithful have decided to go ahead with the protection of tradition and rituals even if the the Supreme Court gives further adverse verdicts. “We will do everything legally possible to prevent the entry of women without age barrier into the temple,” he said.
