I did it of my own free will, no one pushed me: Sruthi Hariharan
Bengaluru: As #MeToo storm gains pace, actress Sruthi Hariharan on Wednesday hit back at all those who alleged that she was naming and shaming multilingual star Arjun Sarja at the behest of others.
In a two-page clarification, which she put out on her Twitter account, she made it clear that she came out of her own free will and there is no one behind her decision, as assumed by many in the film industry.
“I make it crystal clear that neither Chetan nor Prakash Raj or Kavitha Lankesh or anyone else is making me come out. They along with others stand in solidarity with me, and I'm grateful to each of them,” she said.
She said that if Arjun Sarja decides to file a defamation suit, she is well equipped to fight the case in courts. On producing proof of the alleged incident, she reiterated that she need not present it to those asking for it now, and they can choose to believe what they want to believe. “If and when this goes to court, I shall submit my evidence there and legal system shall serve justice the way it deemed,” she said.
On Sarja fans and followers trolling her and threatening her on social media, she said, “I know what the truth is. The rest can choose to do what they want to and can have fun!”
She expressed her displeasure against KFCC president Chinnegowdru, ex-president Sa Ra Govind and film producer Munirathna, saying that instead of protecting the rights of artists and solving the issue logically and practically, they are involved in her character assassination. She concluded that she is appalled by those who are undignified and misogynistic.
She said that she will stand for herself and always fight for what is right even if it is a long and tiring battle.
