Congress may keep only 95 seats for forthcoming Assembly elections

The meeting of the office bearers confirmed that the Congress was ready to offer more tickets to the alliance parties.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has hinted to its constituency coordinators that the Congress party will be contesting in 90 to 95 constituencies in the forthcoming Assembly elections. During a meeting of the office bearers at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, the TPCC chief prepared the constituency coordinators to be ready for sacrificing their seat if that was allotted to the allied parties in the process of seat adjustments.

The meeting of the office bearers confirmed that the Congress was ready to offer more tickets to the alliance parties. It is learnt that the Congress will be offering 24 to 29 seats to the allied parties TD, TJS and CPI. The Congress leaders have said that everyone should work for the party even if they do not get the ticket. “Those who sacrifice their seats will be recognised by the party and they will be given preference in nominated posts,” they said.

The Congress campaigning will be done as four teams led by TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Campaigning committee chairman Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, former minister K. Jana Reddy and Kodangal Ex MLA Revanth Reddy.

Congress leaders discussed Mr Rahul Gandhi’s tour in the meeting and invited requests from the constituencies that are seeking the meetings of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The Congress will initiate a one-day workshop for party spokespersons and meetings would be conducted with party workers from November 1 to November 7 to discuss the election strategy.

Later, Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mr Jana Reddy welcomed Miryalaguda TRS leader Amarender Reddy into the Congress party along with his followers.

Speaking to media persons, Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy said, “The Telangana Rashtra Samithi is afraid of losing elections from the day the Mahakutami was formed. This time, the Congress will undoubtedly win the 12 seats in Nalgonda district. Soon after the Congress government is formed, the Rs 2 lakh loan waiver will be given to farmers. And for the benefit of poor Vysyas and Reddys, separate corporations will be announced.”
