Bengaluru: Constable harasses dentist, suspended

The dentist had filed a complaint with the Jnanbharati police, accusing the constable, Sudarshan, of harassing him.

Bengaluru: A police constable attached to the Girinagar police station was suspended on Wednesday for threatening and harassing a dentist, by Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Annamalai, a day after he assumed charge.

The dentist had filed a complaint with the Jnanbharati police, accusing the constable, Sudarshan, of harassing him. The constable, who hails from Belagavi, joined the force in 2012 and lives with his family in the city.

Detailed investigations revealed that the harassment began in 2013 when Sudarshan went to the dentist’s clinic in Hosakere for the first time. The dentist gave Sudarshan his phone number, saying he could be contacted during any emergency.

But harassment started soon after, as Sudarshan called the dentist repeatedly and during odd hours. When the dentist stopped taking calls, Sudarshan would drop by his clinic and house unannounced and threaten him.

To escape torture, the dentist shifted his house to Nagadevanahalli. But Sudarshan managed to trace him there too and harass him. The constable told the dentist that he should be at his beck and call all the time, and if not, his life would be in danger.

After the dentist filed the complaint at the Jnanabharati police station, a detailed probe was conducted and on Wednesday, the DCP suspended him.
