Ayyappas stage stir against SC ruling

The devotees formed a human chain at Chowtra centre in Chilakaluripet.

Vijayawada: Ayyappa devotees, led by various Hindu religious organisations, staged protests in Vijayawada and Guntur on Wednesday demanding conserving the traditions of the Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala.

They objected to the apex court verdict allowing women of all ages into the Ayyappa shrine.

NTR Chilli Yard chairman M. Subba Rao and other devotees took out a procession from the Ayyappa temple at Arundelpeta to the collectorate in Guntur on Wednesday and raised slogans demanding protection of tradition of the temple, which was being followed since ages. AP Brahmin Corporation convener S. Sridhar Sarma demanded the government to take measures to ensure that the ancident tradition was followed. The devotees formed a human chain at Chowtra centre in Chilakaluripet.
