Replace India's development model: RSS

Each country's model of development should be different, says Manmohan Vaidya.

Hyderabad: The RSS on Monday said that a more ‘Bharatiya’ version of development, based on the concept of ‘Integral Humanism’ propounded 51 years ago by Jan Sangh idealogue Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, should replace the model of development being followed by the country at present.

It’s been 25 years since the country’s economy was opened to globalisation by the Congress government headed by P.V. Narasimha Rao in 1991.

RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Manmohan Vaidya said, “Those who realize that the Western model of development is fractured are looking towards India which has always had a holistic approach. Each country's model of development should be different and fitting all countries in the same model is causing problems.”

The RSS passed a resolution in its Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal Baithak regarding the need of following the ‘Integral Humanism’ approach for development and solving global socioeconomic issues such as unemployment, poverty, malnutrition and hold of multinational companies over more than two-thirds of global output.

The RSS also said that the ‘Integral Humanism’ approach would help in tackling the issues of terrorism inspired by religious fanaticism and extremist political ideologies.

It also said that indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources due to consumerism, environmental issues like global warming and pollution can be tackled with this approach along with solving the issue of disintegration of family values and increase in psychosomatic disorders which are result of purely materialistic approach of people towards life.

The RSS said that experiments need to be conducted by Union and state governments and nations to develop their own model of sustainable development keeping in mind the goals of Earth Summit of 1992 at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil which aimed for world peace, sustainable development and environment protection.
