Cops to monitor idol immersion, Milad procession from war room

Hyderabad: The city police will monitor the Ganesh immersion procession on September 28 and the Milad-un-Nabi ‘juloos (procession)’ from the recently-opened war room at the TS Police Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) at Banjara Hills, which has strengthened surveillance with the addition of 2,306 CCTV cameras to its network.

Officials said that the state-of-the-art facility can facilitate all government departments to monitor large gatherings and if needed, initiate crisis mitigation measures through heightened and quick decision-making.

On Monday, state home minister Mohd Mahmood Ali inaugurated the camera network and a viewing gallery, which allows the public an insider view of operations. Funded by the Safe City Project, the cameras are spread out throughout the tri-commissionerate area, officials said.

“This marks a monumental step forward in enhancing public safety and coordination among various government bodies,” Mahmood Ali said at the inaugural.

He commended Hyderabad police commissioner C.V. Anand and his team for their efforts in adding advanced cameras to the network.

DGP Anjani Kumar underscored the significance of the newly deployed camera network, particularly its timely availability ahead of key events like Ganesh Chaturthi and Milad-Un-Nabi. “The gigantic screens reflect the gigantic commitment of the state government to public safety,” he said on the occasion.

Anand, the city police commissioner and director of TSPICC, elaborated on the remarkable progress made since the facility’s inauguration, highlighting the expansion of the centre to establish dedicated bureaus like TSNAB and Cyber Security Bureau, besides integrating camera feeds and sensor data of other departments. He said that teams are on the verge of integrating various other systems like Dial 100 as well.

“TSPICCC transformed into a full-fledged multi-agency operations and disaster management centre, as envisioned by the Chief Minister. This year, all departments will monitor the Ganesh immersions and Milad Juloos from TSPICCC,” Anand said.
