Kochi: The state government on Tuesday fast-tracked the steps to demolish the apartment complexes in Maradu by appointing Mr Snehil Kumar Singh, Fort Kochi sub-collector, for the purpose. With this, the government has virtually replaced the municipality secretary from the job of implementing the Supreme Court order.
“Snehil Kumar Singh, sub-collector, Fort Kochi, is given full additional charge of secretary, Maradu municipality, to carry out the tasks regarding the demolition of apartments constructed violating CRZ rules, in a time-bound manner, as ordered by the Supreme Court,” said the government order.
Mr. Singh, a 2016 Kerala cadre official, is a civil engineer from IIT Roorkie.
The government is expected to submit a roadmap for the demolition of the apartments to the Supreme Court when it takes up the case on Friday.
