Kozhikode: Drone-based IPMS property survey launched in Vadakara

During floods and other calamities, the topographical changes can be spotted and updated easily using the system.

Kozhikode: Vadakara Municipality launched a detailed property survey using intelligent property management system (IPMS) on Tuesday. District collector Seeram Sambasiva Rao switched on the drone survey at Narayana Nagar at 9 am in the presence of municipal chairman K. Sreedharan.

Addressing the gathering Mr Rao said that the new survey was an innovative step and the officials at the municipality could utilise the technology for disaster management, tax collection, urban planning and in many other areas.

"The officials can monitor the system using the data and update time for better governance," he said.

IPMS, a software developed for local bodies to regulate the recording and tax fixing of property and ownership data within the jurisdiction, will make the day-to-day work easier.

The data determining the tax fixation of the property, ownership, number of rooms, overall area and other data within the jurisdiction will be obtained by GPS facility.

It can also generate current tax details. During floods and other calamities, the topographical changes can be spotted and updated easily using the system. The present process of tax fixing of building and land can be simplified and also can check attempts of tax evasion as the system will give accurate data on the length, width and height of the property.

With the help of latest technologies like drone, DGPS, laser tape and specially designed apps, all the demographics and property ownership data, details of water bodies, bridges, drainages, buildings and roads with photographs and all the relevant socio-economic-cultural details of the members are collected, analysed and stored on IPMS in a user-friendly mode.

UL Technology Solutions (ULTS), the IT wing of Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS), developed the IPMS to collect and record authentic data of all the resources.

Municipal vice-chairperson K.P. Bindu, ULCCS director C. Valsan and ULTS sales manager Prathiush Koodathil attended the event.
