Bengaluru: Congress leader hacked to death

Kumar, who was also a real estate agent, had asked his relative Abhishek and friends to join him for a movie.

Bengaluru: In a cold blooded murder, the Yelahanka Block Congress president was brutally hacked to death by four armed men in Allalasandra in Yelahanka on Sunday night.

The deceased, 27-year-old Arun Kumar, a resident of Allalasandra, bled to death on the spot after he was attacked repeatedly with machetes and other lethal weapons. The police suspect old rivalry behind the murder.

Kumar, who was also a real estate agent, had asked his relative Abhishek and friends to join him for a movie. Kumar’s friends, who were passing by the Allalasandra junction, asked Kumar to park his car at the junction and get into their car.

Kumar and Abhishek parked their car at the Allalasandra junction and left to Yeshwanthpur in their friends’ car. After watching movie, Kumar’s friends dropped him and Abhishek at the Allalasandra junction and left. As the duo walked towards their car, four armed men came out of nowhere and attacked Kumar.

Kumar collapsed on the road, but the killers continued to hack at him. Abhishek managed to run away from the spot and was not injured.

The Yelahanka New Town police rushed to the spot and procured the footage from the CCTV camera installed at the spot. Though the exact reason for the murder is not yet ascertained, the police suspect it to be a case of old rivalry related to real estate.

The Yelahanka New Town police have registered a case and are investigating.
