Chennai:Maintaining that the General Council was called according to rules and decisions taken at the meeting had legal sanctity, AIADMK deputy coordinator and Rajya Sabha MP R Vaithilingam on Sunday said they would get back the frozen Two Leaves symbol within 15 days.
He said the General Council meeting and its decisions were valid since late J Jayalalithaa appointed those participated in it to their posts and no one can challenge the resolutions passed at the meeting.
“We will get back the Two Leaves symbol in the next 15 days. We are very confident of getting back the symbol. Only we have the powers to call General Council because those appointed to the council by late Amma are with us,” he told reporters in Thanjavur.
Vaithilingam’s comments assume significance since it comes just a week before the Election Commission is to hear the Two Leaves symbol case. The EPS-OPS and Sasikala faction is locked in a fight at the EC on who gets the symbol.
