IT raids continue on Chittoor MLA DA Satya Prabha's residence
Tirupati: Income Tax officials continued their raids on Chittoor TDP MLA, D.A. Satya Prabha for the second day at her residence on Saturday, reportedly finding several key documents pertaining to assets valued at crores of rupees.
The I-T sleuths entered the residence of the MLA at about 11 pm on Friday. Sources said the raid was conducted as per finance ministry order in Bengaluru, Zaheerabad, Hyderabad, Chhattisgarh, Pondicherry and Chennai where she owns assets.
Speaking to the media at her residence, Ms Satya Prabha said that I-T officials were verifying records for the past 30 years and it will take time to assess the documents and valuables.
“Before September 30, we have to file our TDS and all the documents pertaining to our assets are perfect,” the TD MLA said.
The I-T sleuths who brought weighing machines and other equipment to assess the gold and other jewellery at her residence reportedly found several valuables.
Meanwhile, a large number of followers of the MLA assembled in front of her residence and raised slogans against the I-T sleuths.
Following the directions of the Centre setting deadline to disclose assets voluntarily by September 30, the I-T department has reportedly targeted five prominent politicians in the state.
Ms Satya Prabha, wife of prominent businessman and former MP, D.K. Adikeshavulu Naidu allegedly amassed huge assets disproportionate to her income.
It is a known fact that Adikeshavulu Naidu was one of the richest persons in undivided AP and was the owner of several companies and a medical college in Bengaluru.
He was reportedly a partner of Vijay Malya and had distilleries in Chittoor. When he was TTD chairman, he introduced the Ananta Swarnamaya Scheme meant for gold plating of walls inside the temple, whereby he collected about 300 kg of gold from donors. The project was shelved later.
