SCB officials on door-to-door check to get more people vaccinated

Of the 8,931 houses surveyed, 6,161 people were found to be not vaccinated

Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB), conducting a door-to-door survey to figure out the number of people who had not taken the Covid vaccine has collected details from 8,931 houses on Tuesday.

Of these, 6,161 people were not vaccinated. On Monday, the officials went door-to-door, checked at 5,949 houses and found 4,282 people were not vaccinated.

“If the people of a family have taken only the first dose, a sticker would be affixed to the door with the ‘first dose’ marked on it. All those who have not been vaccinated will be sent to the nearest vaccination centre for the dose,” V. Balan Nair, deputy CEO of the board, told Deccan Chronicle.

There are 360 slums and residential areas on the SCB limits. Officials from the state health department would have a mobile vaccination centre with two medical staffers in these vehicles to administer the vaccine.

However, vaccine hesitancy exists among the residents of the board. They are concerned about the side-effects of the vaccine.

“The officials had come to my place yesterday. I informed them I took the first dose, but my parents have not. My mother has clots in her head, and is unsure whether she should take the jab. My father is concerned that he will face side-effects and might have to be absent from work,” explained Shravani, a resident of Valmiki Nagar in East Marredpally.

Similarly, Narender, a fish-stall owner in East Marredpally said he has not taken either dose. “I do not know where to go and get the vaccine. The officials had come to my house yesterday (Monday), and noted down some information. They said they would call me, but I am yet to receive a call,” he said, hoping that he would be administered the vaccine soon.
