Hyderabad: Congress steps up stir against irrigation graft

Rammohan Reddy said the Congress government had sanctioned Rs 11 crore for the survey of the Palamuru Ranga Reddy project.

Hyderabad: The Congress has decided to highlight the alleged failure of the TRS government with regard to irrigation pr-ojects. As a first step, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy along with party MPs, legislators and senior leaders will visit the river Pranahita at Tummidi Hatti in Komaram Bheem district on Monday.

Late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy led Congress government had taken up the Pranahita-Chevella project with an outlay of Rs 38,000 crore to provide water to 16.5 lakh acres. After the TRS came to power in 2014, the Tummidi Hatti project was set aside in the name of redesign and the barrage was built at Medigadda for the Kaleswaram project.

From August 27, former MP Konda Vishwe-shwar Reddy, former ministers Prasad Kum-ar, A. Chandrasekhar, and others will go on a four-day 88-km padayatra from Shan-karpally to Shadnagar to protest the cancellation of the Pranahita-Chevella project

Mr Rammohan Reddy said the Congress government had sanctioned Rs 11 crore for the survey of the Palamu-ru–Ranga Reddy project.

They said Ranga Reddy district was becoming a desert and it should be supplied with Godavari water.
