Explain delay in Lokayukta: High Court asks Telangana govt

The petitioner said more than 6,000 petitions were pending as the Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta posts has been vacant since 20 months.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court asked the government to explain its stand on a PIL on the state not appointing the Lokayukta, Upalakayukta, the State Human Rights Commission and the Inf-ormation Commission.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Ch-auhan and Justice Sha-meem Akhter was dealing with a PIL filed by Khammam-based social activist Koini Venkanna against the state government for not fulfilling these posts.

The petitioner said more than 6,000 petitions were pending as the Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta posts has been vacant since 20 months. The SHRC did not have a chairperson since 2016.
