Bala was not driving when car crashed

The Crime Branch is planning to take the confide-ntial statements of those at a shop in Kollam whe-re Balabhaskar had got down during journey.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Crime Branch probing the fatal crash of violinist Balabhaskar has found that the car was driven by his driver Arjun at the time of the accident and that Balabhaskar was in the backseat. The forensic experts came to the conclusion after checking the finger prints on the steering wheel and seat belt, the hair on the seat and blood. The police will now charge Arjun with manslaughter not amounting to murder. The Crime Branch concluded that it was an accident without any mystery. The test results from the forensic science laboratory have been handed over to the Crime Branch team. The Crime Branch is planning to take the confide-ntial statements of those at a shop in Kollam whe-re Balabhaskar had got down during journey.

It has issued notices to those at the shop in this regard.

Arjun had given a statement that Balabhaskar was driving the car while his wife and eyewitness Nandhu told the police that Arjun was at the wheel.

Later, KSRTC driver Aji, who was also at the spot, said Balabhaskar was in the driver’s seat.

The family had earlier wanted a probe into the case after his friends Prakash Thamby and Vishnu were arrested in connection with a gold-smuggling case allegedly carried out via the Thiruvananthapuram international airport.
