Muzaffarpur: A complaint case seeking a registration of defamation case against the Congress president was filed in the Chief Judicial Magistrate Hari Prasad’s court in Muzaffarpur on Saturday.
Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha who filed the case said that he was hurt by Rahul Gandhi for “linking unemployment with terrorism” in his speech during his Germany visit last week.
“Linking terrorism with unemployment has tarnished the image of our country on the foreign soil. I have filed a complaint case seeking court’s order for a defamation suit against the Congress President,” Advocate Ojha said in Muzaffarpur on Saturday.
The court has fixed September 4 to hear the matter.
The senior lawyer also pointed out that Rahul Gandhi has held Indian culture responsible for rising cases of violence against women in the country.
Ojha in his complaint has prayed to the court for initiating a case against Rahul Gandhi under various sections of the IPC that included insult with an intent to provoke breach of peace.
“He has deliberately made statements with an intention to create tension in the country,” advocate Ojha said pointing to the political remarks and protests against Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi has been facing criticism from BJP leaders who feel that the speech he gave in Hamburg Germany last week was “dangerous” for the country.
Advocate Ojha said that he decided to file the complaint case after he saw the statement on television recently.
“I was hurt by Rahul Gandhi’s statement and I believe there are several others in the country who may be feeling the same. He has insulted the image of our country by his statements,” advocate Ojha said.
