Kalaburagi: Priyank Kharge is chairman of H-K cabinet committee
Kalaburagi: Minister for social welfare, Priyank Kharge has been appointed chairman of the Cabinet sub-committee for overseeing the implementation of Article 371(J) of the Constitution, giving special status to the backward Hyderabad Karnataka region.
While Mr Kharge is also the Minister in charge of Kalaburagi district in H-K, the other members of the sub-committee are Ministers D K Shivakumar, who is in charge of Ballari, Bandeppa Kashempur, who is in charge of Bidar , Krishna Byregowda, Rajashekhar Patil Humnabad (Yadagir) and R Shankar (Koppal).
Former Minister, H K Patil headed the sub-committee in the Siddaramaiah government. But as he was from Gadag district, there was resentment among a section of leaders against him heading it and they had lobbied for a minister from the H-K region to take over as its chairman, arguing that it stood to gain from the change.
Meanwhile, a delegation from the Hyderabad Karnataka Abhivrudhi Horata Samiti, headed by former Minister, Vaijanth Patil has decided to meet Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on September 6 to discuss the issues concerning Hyderabad Karnataka and ways to develop it.
