Hyderabad High Court upholds order on fee in Vasavi case

While dismissing the appeals the bench felt that the TAFRC should maintain time schedule to recommend the fee structure for the engineering courses.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Friday upheld an order of a single judge passed allowing the Vasavi Institute of Technology and Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology to collect Rs 1.60 and Rs 1.37 lakhs per student for the academic years 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 respectively.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil .B. Radhakrishnan and Justice Ramesh Ranganathan was dismissing two appeals by the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) and the state government. The single judge while finding fault with the recommendation of the TAFRC to collect Rs 97, 000 as fee from each student, allowed both colleges to collect the fees as per their applications moved before the TAFRC.

Earlier the bench dealing with the appeals found fault with the TAFRC for the delay in recommending the fee structure for every year for the Engineering Courses stating that the apathy of the authorities became curse on the parents. While dismissing the appeals the bench felt that the TAFRC should maintain time schedule to recommend the fee structure for the engineering courses.
