DTP policy to solve office space crunch

The state government has introduced Designated Technology Park (DTP) Policy which encourages developers offering various incentives.

Visakhapatnam: To resolve the office space crunch issue which is repelling IT companies to set up their base in the port city, the state government has introduced Designated Technology Park (DTP) Policy which encourages developers offering various incentives. “As many as 40 IT firms wanted to launch operations from Vizag, but they don’t have space to set up their units. So the government worked on Designated Technology Park (DTP) scheme with an aim to develop 1 crore sq ft infrastructure exclusively for IT companies at faster pace,” said IT minister Nara Lokesh.

Speaking with the IT Space Developers Community, the IT minister elaborated about the advantages of DTP scheme, which was created as part of IT Policy 2014-2020. Mr Lokesh said out of 1 crore sq ft, 80,000 sq ft would be developed, most likely at Kapuluppada in 200 acres in Vizag as that big chunk of government land was not available with either Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) or Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA).

Some of the developers asked the IT minister to consider the spaces readily available in heart of the city for IT offices and also give permissions to run tech units in residential areas. District collector Pravin Kumar accompanied the IT minister.
