Cong. leader attacks BJP over flood, claims it responsible for Kaleshwaram fiasco

Karimnagar: Kisan Congress cell state coordinator Shashibushan Kache hit out at the BJP for “shedding crocodile tears” when meeting flood victims to gain political mileage, in the backdrop of BJP leaders Etala Rajender, Vivek Venkata Swamy and Sunil Reddy’s visit to Manthani.

Addressing a press conference, Kache said that the BJP leaders, who were hitting out at the Kaleshwaram project while visiting flood victims, were part of the TRS when the project was conceptualised. Further, the TRS also entered into an agreement with the then BJP government in Maharashtra.

“That time, they called Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao a modern Bhagiratha and now, making him responsible for the floods,” Kache said.

He said that the Congress opposed the Pochampally project, but the BJP government in Maharashtra quelled their dissent using police force. “What is the central water board commission doing when the project has been constructed without factoring maximum pond level or full reservoir level?” he said.

Kache alleged that the BJP’s support for the Kaleshwaram project is the reason why it is not probing the corruption behind it.

“BJP leaders must stop trying to divert the attention of the flood victims and must take initiative for sanctioning flood relief funds from the Central government immediately,” he said

Kache was accompanied by Congress leaders S. Rajesh, P. Shiva, V. Sriniva, Azeem Khan, Ayesha Arif, M. Rajaiah, E. Anil, A. Kiran and G. Rajashekar for the press meet.
