Traders warned of huge penalties for Covid protocol violations

The collector warned that second time violation of Covid protocols will attract a penalty to the tune of Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000

VIJAYAWADA: Traders who were told to strictly follow the Covid protocol have been warned of being slapped with fines ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,0000 for violations.

Krishna collector J. Nivas and Vijayawada police commissioner B. Srinivasulu conducted an awareness meeting with traders on Covid-19 protocol here on Saturday. They said that trade and commercial complexes can spread coronavirus swiftly and directed the trading community to follow the guidelines in order to restrain Covid-19 third wave.

Nivas said that owners and promoters of business establishments should form a committee and follow the guidelines strictly. He warned that the violation of Covid rules for the first time will be a warning and second time violation will attract a penalty to the tune of Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000.

He pointed out that as a preventive measure against a third wave, Section 144 will be in force up to July 30. He further said that criminal cases will be filed against errant hospitals and establishments against violations as they face complete closure.

Srinivasulu said that Covid can be contained by physical distance and wearing masks in public places. He said that 1000 policemen were infected with Corona out of a total 3,500 police force while discharging their duties.
