Tirupati: Six held for circulating fake notes

The SP said in total they seized Rs 2,76,22,000 in fake notes, three computers, two laptops and two printers.

Tirupati: Police produced a six-member gang involved in manufacturing and circulating fake currency before the mediapersons in Chittoor on Wednesday.

The police had apprehended the gang and first seized fake notes to the tune of Rs 98,000 in Kuppam on Tuesday.

A police team, led by Kuppam Rural CI M.R. Krishna Mohan and Ramakuppam SI G. Prasada Rao, seized the fake notes from K. Manikandan and K. Kubendran at Vijalapuram village of Ramakuppam mandal on Tuesday evening.

The team launched a search for the duo after they tried to exchange a counterfeit Rs 200 note in a small shop at Veeranagapuram village in Ramakuppam mandal on Tuesday morning.

The SP said in total they seized Rs 2,76,22,000 in fake notes, three computers, two laptops and two printers, apart from equipment used for making the fake notes. The accused have been sent to Judicial custody.
