Bengaluru: Imagine Rs 30 to Rs 50 lakh loan availed against your PAN number without your knowledge and getting calls from the bank to repay the same!

This is what happened to a businessman who runs floor tiles business at Ullala Upanagar near Jnanabharati and he was shocked as he was denied loan despite having a good loan repayment record. He was denied loan by at least 15 banks and financial institutions.

Halegowda, who owns Sri Manjunatha Designer Tiles, claims that he has undergone depression due to the negligence of Syndicate bank in rectifying its flaw.

"Since I am a businessman I have accounts in different banks. It took three months for me to know that my PAN card has been misused by Syndicate bank putting me and my business in bad light. My business has suffered a lot. Expansion of prospects of my company has suffered a set back for nearly two months," he said.

The response from the bank for rectifying the problem has been too cold and curt. The officials at the higher level mocked at us upon hearing our plight and complaint. Since business loan could not be allowed, my business too has suffered and incurrred losses. The bank authorities are pointing fingers at the CIBIL," said Halegowda.

Venugopal, a senior manager, CIBIL said that there has been some technical problem and as a result loans availed by 14 people is showing in the name of Halegowda.

The bank prepares a list and send to the CIBIL for updating. The issue has been resolved.
