Hyderabad: TRS leaders on Wednesday expressed a desire that their working president K.T. Rama Rao be elevated to the highest position in the government in future. This was their wish for Mr Rama Rao on the occasion of his birthday on Wednesday.
Scores of people, activists of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), ministers, legislators, professionals, movie personalities, celebrities and many others greeted Mr Rama Rao on his birthday.
The ministers and MLAs organised blood donation camps, planting of saplings, distribution of fruits and medicines to patients. They said that Mr Rama Rao should be elevated in the government as he was instrumental in building the image of Hyderabad globally in the IT field and also in building the party’s image.
Expressing his gratitude and pleasure over the overwhelming response to the #GiftASmile Challenge, Mr Rao thanked everyone for the greetings and also for extending a helping hand to the needy.
It all started when a well-wisher of Mr Rama Rao donated prosthetic limbs to a person, Praveen from Nirmal district, who lost both his legs in an accident a few years ago and had sought help from Mr Rao through Twitter. He was provided with the necessary assistance.
As the challenge caught up in the next 24 hours, Mr Rao himself tweeted urging people not to get him bouquets, cakes and splurge money on advertisements and hoardings. Instead, he urged his well-wishers to #GiftASmile.
