AK Balan slams Kerala high court Justice comments
Kochi: Culture and Law minister A.K. Balan has stated that the comments made Just-ice V Chidambaresh of the Kerala High Court at public function in Kochi were “improper”. Speaking to reporters in Thiruvanant-hapuram Mr. Balan said personal opinions should not have been expressed while holding the position of High Court judge.
The words uttered by the judge shows his psychology, the minister said, and added that the same psychology will work when a case on the subject comes before him for consideration. Making the inaugural address at the Tamil Brahmin’s Global Meet in Kochi on July 19 Justice Chidambaresh called upon members of the Community to deliberate as to whether reservation should be on the basis of community or caste alone.
“I am only kindling your interest or reminding you that there is a platform for you to agitate or to voice your concern about economic reservation alone, and not caste or communal reservation”, he said. He also extolled the virtues of Brahmin by birth and stated that as they are blessed by the virtues of their previous life.
Mr. Balan said the comments made by the judge has created doubts in the minds of the people on what position this kind of judicial mind will adopt in a litigation connected with reservation. This conveys as wrong message to the society, he added.
