Speed breakers become nightmare as GHMC and Cantonment officials remains unaware

Hyderabad: The double speed breaker at the East Marredpally Lane beside Tagore junior college is making the bike riders’ journey a nightmare. Residents say that there are many instances when motorcycles and cars got damaged due to that. These unauthorised structures were built by residents years back in order to prevent auto-rickshaws from using it as a shortcut. But the authorities have not removed it.

Another resident, Mr Mukesh Chutkey, a resident from East Marredpally said that “We regularly use this road for commuting, and always we face problem when it comes to cross that double speed breaker. Always the pillion has to get down and slowly the bike has to move forward. Everyone is suffering because of this unauthorised speed breaker, many are falling down unable to control and also cars are getting damaged at this bumpy road.”

One of the residents of the Marredpally calls this speed breaker a ‘bone and vehicle breaker’ and says that since many years it has been like this and people are breaking their bones and vehicles are getting repaired when they use this lane and certain residents also stopped using this lane.

When contacted, the GHMC and Cantonment officials are passing the bucks to each other and are not even aware of the existence of the unauthorised speed breaker. Certain portions of Marredpally is under Secunderabad Cantonment and certain pockets are under the GHMC.
