Assam gold tea sold at record Rs 39,001 per kg

The lot of orthodox tea was bought by Saurav Tea Traders in Tuesday's auction at Guwahati Tea Auction Centre.

Guwahati: In what may be called another feather in the cap of Assam tea plantation industry, the Manohari gold tea was sold on Tuesday at Guwahati Tea Auction Centre for whooping Rs 39,001 per kg which is highest ever record price of any Indian tea. The lot of orthodox tea was bought by Saurav Tea Traders in Tuesday's auction at Guwahati Tea Auction Centre.

The managing director of manohari tea estate Mr Rajan Lohia told this newspaper: “We are delig-hted over this new record breaking price as we ma-nufactured this tea based on high demand from discerning consumers and tea connoisseurs for this type of premium quality specialty tea.” “It has fetch-ed price of gold and will be helpful in reviving the tea industry in the long run,” the managing director added.

Delighted over the record breaking performance, he said that this tea is known for its variant characteristics of several health benefits, leaving a bright gold like liquor and shooting after taste and thus the record brea-king price. The Manohari Tea Estate is situated in the upper region of Assam at an elevation of 390 feet above sea level.
