Iraq has no clue on 39 missing Indians
New Delhi: Even as external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj is expected to speak in Parliament on the sensitive matter on Tuesday, visiting Iraqi foreign minister Dr Ibrahim al-Jaafari said on Monday that the Iraqi Government does not know the fate of the 39 missing Indians who were abducted by terror group ISIS in 2014 in the Iraqi city of Mosul, adding that his Government was not completely sure whether they are dead or alive.
The Iraqi foreign minister — who began a five-day visit to India from Monday — met Ms Swaraj amid mounting anxiety among families of the 39 missing Indians.
“We’re not 100 percent sure whether they’re alive or not, we don’t know. We are going to do our best, but till now we cannot say anything about their fate. We will do our best in order to find those 39,” Al-Jaafari was quoted as telling TV channels.
